　木造の建物、広々としたラウンジ、24時間利用OKの個別シャワールーム、フリーチョイスの朝食など、旅人のかゆいところに手が届く、理想のバックパッカーズだ。

Ino's Place (tel 832-1828 ; www.inos-place.com ; dm from 3400) A bit further from Sapporo station, it has no curfew, private rooms and friendly, English-speaking staff. Western-style facilities and Internet access (per minutes \10) make it easy to feel at home. Take the Tozai line to the Shiroishi stop (four past Odori) and from there it's about seven-minute walk. Free coffee and tea.

Lonely Planet Japan (8th edition, P564)
Ino's Place (tel 832-1828, fax 814-9277; www.inos-place.com ; dorm beds from 3400) is a new backpackers' hostel, with private rooms and friendly, English-speaking staff. We've received enthusiastic feedback about this place. Take the Tozai subway line to Shiroishi station (four stops from Odori); it's about a seven-minutes walk.

Spruce and friendly new backpackers' hostel near Shiroishi subway station, five stops out from Sapporo Station on the Tozai line. The smaller dorms can be booked as private rooms (sleeping up to 4) for an additional fee. There's a clean, well-equipped kitchen and pleasant lounge. The hostel is a bit hard to find: check their website for a detailed map and instructions. \3400-4800 per person.

Let's Go Travel Guide Japan (1st edition. P689)
Ino's Place Backpacker's Hostel 4-3-5-6, Higashi-Sapporo, Shiroishi-ku (Tel 832-1828; www.inos-place.com). Take the Tozai metro line toward Shin-Sapporo and get off at Shiroishi. From the top of the stairs at the metro exit, follow Nango st. back towards Lawson (in the Odori Park direction) and turn right at the light just past Seico Market. Though out of the town center, Ino's is the real backpacker's choice, with full amenities and a pastoral lounge. Communal kitchen. Breakfast from \100. Laundry \300 (including dryer).
